After a visit to What?if! last week, one of their principles has been rattling around my brain and that’s the idea of ‘realness’. It’s the notion that once an idea is physically out in the world, whether that is in the form of a drawing or a lego model or knitting or whatever, then that idea has become real and it takes on a life of it’s own. It becomes easier to know what to do with it or how to change it.
Realness is a great way to move from the potential mess and chaos of the creative process into the ‘lets do it’ mode.
There’s a good interview with Kristina Murrin from what?if! that explains it further. It’s worth a read, as is the book she co-wrote on creativity at work…
